Retiring from a Florida public job?

If you're in the Florida Retirement System, turning 65 and leaving DROP can land in the same season. I lay out the state plan rules first, then Medicare, in the order things happen.

The FRS Health Insurance Subsidy (HIS) is a monthly payment to help retired members pay for health insurance; it is not itself a health plan.
