My Texas license

I live in Florida, so my Texas license is a non-resident license. The Texas record calls it a General Lines Agent license and shows my Florida address.

What my Texas license covers

Texas lists one qualification on my license: life, accident, health and HMO. That means health and life coverage.

Medigap in Texas

Your Medigap Open Enrollment Period lasts six months and starts the first month you have Medicare Part B and you're 65 or older. During it you can buy any Medigap policy sold in your state, and the insurance company can't deny you coverage because of pre-existing health problems. It doesn't repeat every year.

Those are your federal rights. Your state can add more chances to buy a Medigap policy under state law, including before 65, so it pays to ask. In Texas, ask HICAP at 1-800-252-9240 or the Texas Department of Insurance.
